In the course of this workshop, we will work with our breath to explore our inner space, attempt to expand it and encounter at the borders of our emotions. Backed up by unrivalled music of the Roma people, in a songs we will bring our feelings into motion, and experience thus greater strength and joy of life. Dežo and Ida will provide a sensitive accompany on guitar or piano.
To sing from the one’s deepest heart and to express one’s self in such authenticity and beauty yields cure and unity. Ida and her partner Dežo establish in their loveing art the space for such experience, and encourage us to sing from our hearts, to let the boundaries of fear fall, to open the beauty and breadth of our own being through our voices.
In 2002, I have seen Ida, Dežo and their work as a participant on one of their workshops. I still find myself touched and inspired by their very own art of singing and being with one’s voice. This experience has brought me to trust more in my own voice. The Roma songs unreel an unbelievable power and depth. It is a unique experience to have Ida and Dežo stand by and listen. Energy of life that sets one on fire, gets under one’s skin, yet suppresses no emotion. I wish more people could experience this.
