The civil association MIRET has been established on July 20, 1998. The main goal of this organization is to help the Roma minority to integrate into Czech society and vice versa, to help Czech society to understand minorities and open itself towards them. MIRET has been registered by Ministry of Home Office on March 26, 1999. Since the beginning, MIRET has established long term cooperation with Amnesty International, gained sponsorship from UNESCO, has a support and grant from local Ministry of Culture and other public authorities. MIRET is represented by Mrs. Ida Kelarová, a well known and honored artist, in Czech Republic as well as all around the Europe.
We would like to express a big thanks to all of you for your support and consideration that you had been giving us throughout the year 2002. It was a year of many significant and far-reaching changes for MIRET. The less obvious these changes were on the first sight, the more important they were.
Today, MIRET is brought forth by a small group of enthusiasts, a team and many other people helping in different activities.
As soon as our inner organizational work and structure gets its final shape, we shall face another important step. In order to ensure a sustainable development of our organization in following our mission we are planning to expand our work to other places.
