The CAMPUS Summer Academy 2007 gives insights to a culture, which is lived day by day by millions of people and which is far away from common gipsy-clichés.
In cooperation with KETANI (the only Austrian association
for Sinti und Roma west of Vienna) DIE FABRIKANTEN (artists collective) organize for the first time the CAMPUS Summer Academy with workshops, readings and concerts. An interested audience gets the chance to face the nowadays
world of Sinti and Roma. A chance to explore the actual interpretation of a cultural heritage, which is hardly appreciated or even ignored.
IDA KELAROVA will be working with Roma songs through which we will find the true passion in our hearts. This workshop
is also highly recommended for anyone who wishes to boost their confidence as a vocalist, as a performer, or just a music lover!
I sing and teach gypsy songs to unleash and heal our deepest emotions. The songs have a special power, they are beautiful, but more than that, they open your heart, and they never sound the same next day. I give people the opportunity of expressing themselves from the very deepest and most honest parts of themselves. I encourage people to feel the songs and to wake up some of the passions that they‘ve buried inside, sometimes releasing years of accumulated emotion that they haven‘t allowed themselves to feel or show in their lives. The Natural
Voice is hidden deep down. It isn‘t in the throat. It climbs up from inside, a mysterious power which everybody can feel.
