Project devoted to children

The project consists of three parts:

The first part is an exhibition of art work by Romany and non-Romany children, called Děti, children, čhavorenge. It will be open on 1st June 2006 at 4 p.m in the Museum of Children’s Drawing in Prague and will last from 1st June till 3 July 2006.

Selected pictures will be auctioned on 3 June 2006 in the restaurant Pisecka brana in Prague 6. The auction starts on 3rd June 2006 at 5 p.m., it is open to public and the entry is free. The auction will be presented by Ester Kočičková. The proceeds will be passed to the account of the civic association Miret and along with the yields of the concert on 4th June 2006 they will support the organisation of a workshop and summer camp for 30 talented young Romany artists.

In the afternoon, you will be able to see documentaries on the summer camp at the Svojanov castle and the workshops, made as a part of the “Babylon” series (directed by Marta Svozilová), a trailer from the documentary on a young Romany singer “Vierka” (directed by Miroslav Janek) and a show of videos to the songs Mužas Mange and Dado Miro by Ida Kelarova and the Apsora choir (both directed by Lukáš Rak), also photos from the summer camps will be projected. A part of the auction and the afternoon devoted to children will be formed by the performance of the signer Ida Kelarova, the band Romano Rat and the choir Apsora. Other performers will include the Romany children’s dance groups M-dance and Merci, and the talented young Romany singers Monika Bagárová, Klaudia Radičová and Adriana Gáborová.

The flash point of the whole project is the benefit concert on 4th June 2006 featuring Ida Kelarova, Desiderius Dužda, Romano Rat and the choir Apsora. This charity event will be supported by the performance of other well known personalities of the Czech music scene such as Iva Bittová, Matěj Ruppert, the bands Kale, Kaži Čercheň, the vocal trio of the Romathan theatre (Slovakia) and other guests. You will be guided through the concert by Jitka Čvančarová and Jan Budař.

All artists will disclaim remuneration for their performance.
